was first proposed by Isabel Briggs Myers (1897 – 1980) who was a U.S. personologist and her mother, Katharine Cook Briggs (1875- 1968) who suggested that this test could be used to classify individuals based on their expressed choices between contrasting alternatives in certain categories of traits including- extraversion-introversion, sensing-intuition, thinking-feeling and judging-perceiving.
