Music Therapy

Music therapy is an evidence-based intervention in which music is used to address psychological and physical needs. Music therapists encourage their clients to sing and create, listen to, and/or move to music. Studies found out that this technique can enhance motivation, relaxation, and learning. The concerns that this can address include pain management, stress, depression, anxiety, and other mental conditions. It is used in some hospitals, clinics, schools, and correctional centers.

For instance, researchers compared the responses of children while IV was being inserted into their arms. Those who listened to music showed less distress and perceived less pain as compared to those who did not listen to music.
