The limbic cortex is found in the center of the physical brain, beneath the cerebral cortex and the thalamus and is comprised of a complex. It is the center of the limbic system which includes an interconnected set of brain structures, including the hippocampus, amygdala, anterior thalamic nuclei, septum, and fornix.
The structures interact to support a variety of mental and physical functions, including emotion, behavior, motivation, long term memory, and olfaction.
