Hermaphrodite

A Hermaphrodite is an individual, human or animal, that possesses the physical traits of both male and female. This unique problem is caused by genetic errors, medically referred to as “gonadal mosaicism” that causes the fetus to possess both male and female sex organs, both internal and external. This trait is now commonly called ambiguous genitalia. The newer, and more politically correct term for a hermaphrodite is “intersexed.” This condition can be surgically repaired to reflect either male or female genitalia.
