The frontal cortex is the outer layer of the human brain situated at the front of the cerebrum. It is associated with various functions such as impulse control, aggressive behavior, visual processing, attention, working memory, emotional expression, sexual behaviors, communication, primary motor skills, and social emotional evaluation. Hence, it is dubbed as the ‘control panel of personality” and “the action cortex”.
For instance, the conditions linked with frontal cortex abnormalities include suicidal behavior, inability to regulate behavior, motor weakness, impaired judgement, and inability to solve problems.
