The file drawer problem (also known as publication bias) is a type of bias in which researchers only publish positive or favorable results while not publishing results that are negative or that don’t confirm the hypotheses of the study. It is allowing results to determine whether or not the study is released or published. This can cause negative effects in that it can make research seem skewed – it can make significance and positive results seem more universal than they actually are.
