Enculturation

Enculturation is the process in which a person learns their culture by observation, experience, and instruction (both informal and formal). Humans learn and adopt qualities that are appropriate and necessary for success in their culture. We learn most from our parents, our peers, and our teachers. The goal is to learn specific rituals, expectations, and the language of our culture in order to be able to function smoothly within it.
