CRI DU CHAT SYNDROME

a cellular disease consisting of extinction of the short arm of chromosome five, thereby producing an outcome of severe cognitive retardation, hardships with speech and mobility, and an anomaly of larynx and epiglottis that results in a high-frequency crying sound such as that of a feline. The trait seems to be passed on genetically. Commonly referred to as cat-cry syndrome, chromosome five, and deletion of short arm.

CRI DU CHAT SYNDROME: “Cri Du Chat Syndrome is more commonly seen in girls than in boys.”
