COUNTERCONDITIONING

noun. A trial and error process wherein an animal that has previously been conditioned to react to a stimulant in a certain way, is trained to generate a unique reaction to the same stimulant that is not in alignment with the initial reaction.

COUNTERCONDITIONING: “Counterconditioning is sometime inadvertently employed in blended families where a child might be raised with two different sets of rules or principles in two different homes- co-parenting classes or therapy can often be beneficial in these situations.”
