CONFABULATION

noun. The misrepresentation of memory wherein holes in recollection are filled in by manufactured tellings that the person believes to be the truth. It isn’t generally thought to be an aware effort to mislead other people. Happens more often in Korsakoef’s syndrome and some other scenarios in which amnesia has been naturally derived.

CONFABULATION: “Children commonly employ confabulation tactics when recounting memories from years prior. “
