COMPUTER ADAPTIVE TESTING (CAT)

a technique used in computerized examinations for certain traits of capabilities wherein the exam topics are immediately modified to align with the degree of expertise the test-taker displays. The degree of difficulty represented by the test is slightly lowered is a question is answered incorrectly, and heightened slightly for an accurate response. The examination ceases whenever the test-taker’s capacity has been determined.
