CALKINS, MARY WHITON

(1863-1930) a first-generation U.S. psychologist who completed her studies at Harvard University, yet never received her degree. She is best-known for her work on paired-associates learning, a useful technique in learning and memory. She also advocated a more personalistic psychology which centered on introspection and self-psychology.
