CAFETERIA FEEDING

n. in experimental psychology, refers to a technique applied in studying non-human species as to hunger and food preference. Under lab conditions, test subjects are offered a variety of foods and observed on their food choices. They are also evaluated on the extent to which their choices affect a life-sustaining balance in their nutrition. See diet self-selection.
