BODY IMAGE ASSESSMENT (BIA)

n. an assessment tool for measuring body image. Here, participants are presented with an array of silhouettes progressing in built from very thin to very overweight. Each participant is asked to choose the figure which best represents, first, his or her actual figure and, second, his or her ideal figure. Originally developed by U.S. psychologist Donald Williamson in 1985.
