BLOOD POISONING

n. a severe medical condition which involves bacterial infection in the bloodstream. It is a result of microorganisms invading the body from a site of infection. The condition is characterized by fever, chills, skin eruptions, and even a neural reaction. Also called septicemnia- bacteremia. See sepsis.
