n. in linguistics, refers to the process of creating a wholly-new term by combining the first part of one word with the end of a second one (e.g. brunch for breakfast and lunch) or by combining the beginning of two words (e.g. cyborg for cybernetics and organism).See morphemes- also portmanteau neologism.
