Biological Approach

To use a biological approach means to concentrate solely on the physical manifestations of disease and the physical treatments of those conditions.

For instance, the treatment of schizophrenia by using a biological approach would be treating the lesions and deterioration of the brain rather than by taking a psychological approach to treatment by using only psychotherapy. In many instances the biological approach can be used in conjunction with other approaches for a more effective treatment. For example, using the previous treatment options for schizophrenia described above together as a joint approach to treatment.
