BEGGING

n. in feeding, refers to a series of animal vocalizations which guide parents toward recognizing their offspring. Among birds, the sound is usually accompanied by opening the bill or mouth. In animal courtship and mating, some females submissively beg to receive food from the males, thus, reducing any display of aggression from their potential mates.
