n. an informal fallacy wherein the initial premise entails the final conclusion. In line with circular reasoning, it is the type wherein the proposition intended to be proven is already assumed for argument’s sake. Thus, it is a way of entertaining the argument and exercising reasoning. Also called petitio principii, that is, assuming the initial point. See question begging- also theory begging.
