Backward Association

Backward association, also known as retroactive association, is the pairing of a current stimulus with a previous one. Hence, an associative link is formed between an item and another one which precedes it in a certain sequence. For example, we have learned that before 2 comes 1 and we think of rain when we see rainbows.
