AUTONOETIC MEMORY

the recall of a personal memory and the simultaneous level of conscious awareness that one is reliving a moment from the past. Synonymous with episodic memory, it is the final level in the monohierarchic theory of memory proposed by Canadian psychologist Endel Tulving (1927- ). Compare anoetic memory- noetic memory.
