AUTOMATIC SPEECH

1. speech that occurs involuntarily, or without conscious control. This type of automatic speech is sometimes a consequence of senility, Tourette’s syndrome, or a highly dysregulated state. Automatic speech should not be confused with synthesized or synthetic speech. 2. Speech or iterations that occur with little or no conscious consideration of the spoken material, for example, reciting the alphabet.

AUTOMATIC SPEECH: “A person using automatic speech may utter vocalizations without being in conscious control of them.”
