ASTHENIA

n. severe weakness or loss of strength, which is often associated with fatigue and muscular pain. Other symptoms conclude breathlessness, psychomotor agitation, and heart palpitations. In some cases, this problem is caused by dysfunction of the pituitary gland. Asthenia was historically thought to be a common symptom of a major depressive episode but is no longer defined as such.

ASTHENIA: “A person who has asthenia suffers severe muscle weakness, as well as fatigue.”
