ARISTOTELIAN

1. relating to the tradition of formal logic founded by Greek philosopher Aristotle (384- 322 BCE) and developed primarily by the Scholastic philosophers of the Middle Ages (see scholasticism). The term Aristotelian is often used to distinguish this tradition of formal logic from modern symbolic logic. 2. Also refers to a general relating to Aristotle, for example, his works, or his thought. In this more general sense, this approach places a higher value on empirical knowledge, which is antithetical to the approach of Platonic idealism or Neo-Platonism.

ARISTOTELIAN: “The term Aristotelian literally means referring to Aristotle, but can be used in conjunction with his works or ideas.”
