ANTICIPATORY NAUSEA

nausea that occurs prior to chemotherapy due to the anticipation of vomiting after the event. Nausea and vomiting can be triggered by sights or odors that have been associated with the physical side effects of chemotherapy – for example, the sight of the equipment.

ANTICIPATORY NAUSEA: “The individual had anticipatory nausea prior to the chemotherapy session because he or she had vomited the last time he or she was in the waiting room – after the prior session.”
