ANTHROPOLOGY

n. refers to the overall study of human beings. Subsectors look at similarities and differences between groups in terms of language, norms, aesthetic preferences, belief systems, geography, and chronology. The physical branch predominantly focuses on the origin and evolution of the species, whereas cultural branches focus more on beliefs, institutions, and customs. Historically, anthropology concerned preliterate peoples, but more recently, these studies have extended to urban groups.

ANTHROPOLOGY: “A person interested in anthropology would likely be concerned about all aspects of human life.”
