ANIMAL DOMINANCE

refers to the social hierarchy among animal groups that allows some members of the species or group to have greater access to resources. Dominance is maintained via vocal and visual signals and may be established via birth order, size, or physical characteristics. Many packs of animals have linear social orders, beginning with the most dominant to the least dominant.
