ABECEDARIAN PROJECT

a 1970’s project managed by the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill that monitored the social and academic processes of children from less than desirable rural communities when they entered full-time childcare establishments following their birth and remained in such a program until beginning 1st grade. It documented positive progress made by the children into adolescence in comparison to those who were not exposed to the childcare enrichment program.

ABECEDARIAN PROJECT: “The Abecedarian Project paved the way for many enrichment programs that have followed in daycare centers and schools alike over the past 40 plus years.”
